What we recycle
We recycle clean yard trimmings (aka Green Waste), untreated wood waste (pallets, crates, spools - metal bolts and straps must be removed), non-lead painted untreated wood waste, fruit & vegetable waste (from supermarkets and processing plants in a limited amount) and borate (Hi-Bor) treated lumber.
We do not accept loads contaminated with treated lumber, plastics, metal, dirt, rock, paper, aluminum, household trash, paint, styrofoam, or any other contaminants of any kind. We do not take food waste or sewage sludge. Contaminated loads are assessed a fee of twice the regular tipping fee. Customers dumping contaminated loads can choose to clean the load immediately, reload and haul away the contaminated load or pay the higher tipping fee.
Please note that any loads containing more than 10% yard trimmings are also banned from the Landfill and H-Power.

We charge a tipping fee to all Commercial accounts.

Recognizing Good Compost
The most beneficial ingredient to a healthy landscape is organic compost. Whether you're installing a new lawn, adding a vegetable or flower garden or planting a fruit tree, amending your existing soil with compost is always a good thing. Compost attracts beneficial organisms like earthworms which release nutrients plants need to thrive and provides aeration and water retention.
A quality organic compost will be dark brown in color and have an earthy aroma. Stay away from compost with ammonia or putrid odors. Particle sizes vary, landscapers usually prefer the larger screen size (1/2") because the compost lasts longer in the soil. The smaller screened size (3/8"-) is usually used for topdressing established lawns. Request current lab analysis for quality assurance.

Menehune Magic Soil Conditioners, Compost and Mulches are made from Recycled Greenwaste. Our Greenwaste comes to us from recyclers islandwide. We grind and windrow mulch to process. Processing compost is monitored constantly for moisture content and temperatures. As temps get to desired levels (approximately 140 degrees), the windrows are turned for aeration. This process goes on for 3-4 months until compost is mature.
We ship Menehune MAGIC Product to all Neighbor Islands in Bulk, in: 40 yard open containers, 1 yard supersacs, or in our bags by the pallet!

We recommend this blend for topdressing lawns to
fill bare spots and adjust drainage problems and reduce
compaction. Lower grade sands are available to fit your
budget.

your truck for you. No minimum purchase requirement.
1 cubic yard covers 162 sq. ft. 2" thick.
For propagating seeds or planting starter plants, drench the blend before adding seed/starters to leach excess salt which is naturally high in compost and fertilizer.
Most Hawaii soils are nutrient deficient and contain very little organic matter. Experts recommend amending your soil with soil conditioning compost. Hawaiian Earth Products produces high quality compost and enhanced compost blends.
All blends have been thoroughly tested and carefully blended for your gardening success. For an added boost we enhance some blends with 11-52-0 fertilizer at no extra cost to you. We specialize in custom blends. If you'd like to add, eliminate or change ratio's of blends we'd be happy to accommodate your needs. Several Menehune MAGIC products are bagged for convenience so that they can be sold at your favorite Garden Center, Nursery, or Home Improvement outlet. Blower/Spreader Services
In 2001 Hawaiian Earth Products introduced another first to Hawaii: Our Blowing services. Compost and Organic Soil Conditioner can be blown onto your yard. Our truck has a 300 foot long hose, so we can park in your driveway, or the street in front of your house, and spread compost onto your back yard, up slopes, over walls, or up 2 story buildings. Great for top dressing lawns and sport fields. WE GO WHERE NO WHEELBARROW HAS GONE BEORE! No more wheelbarrows and backbreaking labor spreading compost yourself. No pile sitting in your driveway or yard for weeks!
Our professional crew will deliver and spread Menehune MAGIC Compost for you.
Delivery and spreading service starts from $500 per load in addition to the product. The cost varies with the location and the job difficulty
To adequately price jobs please have the following information available:
- Distance from area truck will be parked to the farthest point of spreading.
- Length, width and thickness of area to be spread.
- Any obstacles the crew will have to maneuver (enclosed areas, pools, existing landscape, fences, parking obstacles, limited hours of access, low trees or utility lines, narrow drives, grumpy neighbors, etc.)
Blowing Stolons
Compost or blends can be mixed with grass seeds and certain types of stolons (sprigs) and then blown onto your yard.
